Before we talk about the 3 keys to staying pure in singleness, let’s talk about the importance of purity. 

Purity is more than a personal standard; it’s a command of God for us. God calls us to be holy as He is holy (Leviticus 20:7, 1 Peter 1:16). God sent Jesus to die for us so that we may be made righteous before God, but we still have a duty to walk in purity in our covenant with Jesus. 

When we say yes to Jesus, we are saying yes to a marriage covenant with Him (to be one with God). 

My husband and I both came from past relationships where we fell into sexual immorality, so when we began dating, we were clear about setting boundaries to protect our purity. 

My husband (boyfriend at the time) didn’t even want to hold hands at first because forms of physical touch would be a temptation for him to fall into sexual sin.

Though this may sound extreme to some (as it did for me at the time), I am glad we did set boundaries because our purity matters to God. 

Here are some Bible verses on the importance of our purity: 

“…as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.”- 1 Peter 1:14-16

“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” – 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

“For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.” – Ephesians 5:5

You are in a covenant even in singleness. Saying yes to Jesus is entering into a marriage with Him. Ephesians 5 paints this picture beautifully, comparing a husband’s love to Christ’s love for the Church. 

Purity is an act of faithfulness in our relationship with Jesus. Just like in marriage, God desires for us to be faithful to Him. 

So here are 3 ways to stay pure in singleness.

1. Let Jesus fill your heart

Living a pure life starts with knowing God’s love because we can’t love Him unless we first receive His love. We love God because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). 

Jesus gave up His life so we could walk in a relationship with Him. Even when we mess up, His mercy is available. True repentance leads us to walk in a way that pleases Him (2 Corinthians 7:10). 

As you grow in your relationship with God, you’ll begin to understand what love truly is because God is love. The very definition of love is found in Jesus. Throughout Scripture, we see His unconditional, relentless pursuit of His people and the gospel is the greatest example. Jesus gave His life so we could have eternal life with Him and live in true freedom.

The world often presents counterfeit versions of love through emotional dependence, sexual sin, or even pornography, but these things are bondage, not freedom or true love. The things of this world leave us empty, ashamed, and in bondage to sin, which leads to death (Romans 6:23). But Jesus came to set us free. 

His love breaks every chain, heals every wound, fills every longing, and leads us to eternal life. 

One of the most powerful illustrations of God’s love for us is found in Hosea 2:5–16. In this passage, God uses the story of Hosea and Gomer to show how even when we turn away from Him and chase other “lovers” (things, people, or sins that we place above Him), He still pursues us. 

In the book of Hosea, God tells him to marry a promiscuous woman. Gomer was a representation of what Israel was doing to God. Even though Israel was God’s chosen people, the Israelites rejected God by worshipping other gods.

Though God was angry at Israel, He still loved them and pursued them so that they might turn away from their sins and go back to God. 

God says in Hosea 2:14 I will win her back once again. I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her there.”

God, too, is still pursuing us, just as He sent Hosea to pursue Gomer. Though we are all born into sin, God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to die for us that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). 

God hates our sin, but He loved us so much to make a way for us to be made right before Him. It cost God His own begotten Son, suffering on the cross on our behalf. God willingly gave up Jesus because of how much He loves us. 

The greatest way for God to show His love to us will always be through giving Jesus for us.

It is through Jesus that we have eternal life. Jesus is the greatest gift of all. 

Ask God to give you greater revelations of His love for you through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Posture yourself throughout the day to behold Jesus and receive His love. 

Maybe you are in a place where you feel distant and ashamed of past mistakes, or still stuck living in a cycle of sin. This is your time to answer the invitation of God to draw close to Him and let His love fill your heart. 

God allows things to be stripped away, not to shame us, but to reveal that He was and is the Only one who can satisfy us. 

You were created to have intimacy with Jesus. He’s not just your Master, but also your Husband (Hosea 2:16). Be rooted in God’s love daily. His love has the power to perfect you (1 John 4:18). 

2. Fill your mind with God’s truth

Spending time in the Bible is necessary for living a pure life. We need His Word constantly before us, hidden in our hearts, that we may not sin against God (Psalm 119:11). 

Proverbs 7:1-3  says, “My son, keep my words, And treasure my commands within you. Keep my commands and live, And my law as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; Write them on the tablet of your heart.”

The word “treasure” means to store up. God commands us to store up His Word in our hearts and make His Word as the apple of our eye (to be what we gaze and desire upon). 

Are you taking time to read, meditate, and memorize the Bible?

Instead of filling your time with scrolling on social media or binging on movies, why not replace it with time in God’s Word? Our desire to live a pure life will come as we choose to desire God’s Word. 

Psalm 119:9-11 says, “How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

The Bible makes it clear that in order for us to stay on the path of purity, we must obey God’s Word, but before we can obey God’s Word, we must first seek Him with all our heart and hide His Word in us. 

Below are some more Bible verses that show us how meditating on God’s Word helps us to obey His Word and be prosperous. 

“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.” – Psalm 1:2-3

“I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.” – Psalm 119:45

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” – Joshua 1:8

3. Guard your heart

Guarding our heart is so important to walking out purity in singleness. We can be filled with God’s Word, but if we do not guard our heart, we will be prone to fall into temptation. 

Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

Right after this verse, we can see how to practically guard our heart: 

“Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil” (Proverbs 4:24-27). 

Guarding your heart looks like guarding what you say, hear, see, think, and do.

Ask yourself these questions below:

-What tends to trigger your temptations?

-Are there specific times of day when you’re more vulnerable to temptation?

-What thoughts often lead you to fall into temptation in the past?

-Are there certain people or environments that trigger temptation?

Whatever your answers are from above, be diligent to guard yourselves from the very things that cause you to fall into temptation. 

If you are already struggling with letting go of your ex, don’t tolerate thoughts about them from the past. If lust is your area of weakness, be intentional about avoiding movies, music, or environments that promote promiscuity. Guard your heart and set boundaries to protect your purity.

Proverbs 5:8 tells us to not go near the door of temptation. How can you guard your heart to stay on the path of purity?

Empowered to live pure

As you reflect on purity in your single season, remember this: Jesus has set you free from the bondage of sin. The constant pull toward the approval of others, the craving for intimacy outside of God’s timing, even sexual sin itself are all forms of bondage. 

The world may try to normalize or glamorize it, but at its core, sin separates us from the fullness of life God intends for us. 

It’s addictive, it’s deceptive, and it leads to death, but the love of Jesus breaks every chain.

Some of you may have struggled silently with things like pornography or sexual compromise. You’re not alone but freedom is possible. The love of Christ doesn’t just cover you; it heals, restores, and calls you into deep intimacy with Jesus. 

My prayer is that you begin to see the Lord as your Husband, especially in this season of singleness. Maybe that’s a new idea for you, but it’s a biblical one. God desires to love you fully, faithfully, and tenderly. No earthly relationship can match the depth of His love. When you begin to live from that truth, purity no longer feels like an obligation becomes our devotion.

You are loved, pursued, and chosen. Jesus’s love is enough to perfect you. 

“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Thess 5:23

My ex was everything I thought I wanted. He met so many things on my list, but he was not the person God wanted me to be with. I unfortunately disobeyed God for close to three years and stayed in the relationship even though God had already shown me that I needed to leave.

When I finally obeyed God and broke up with him, the first two months were the hardest.

I missed him.

I was tempted to text him.

I wondered if I would ever meet someone else I was attracted to who also loved Jesus.

Looking back, I am so glad I did obey God. I am now married to an amazing man of God who loves Jesus. I am attracted to him, and our life callings align with one another.

So if you are struggling to get over a breakup, know that you’re not alone and know that obeying God will always be worth it.

Here are five things that helped me get over my breakup and embrace my single season with God that I believe will help you.

1. Don’t replay memories in your mind from the past

I remember lying in bed and thinking about the times my ex and I went to Disney, cooked together, or simply spent time together. Those memories made me miss him and question whether I should have let the relationship go.

I ended up getting back together with my ex after a few months of our breakup because I chose to replay the memories of our past and allowed my heart to hold on to him.

You may still love your ex, but those feelings do not mean you need to return to the relationship. If God has given you clear convictions about leaving, keep those truths before you when you are tempted to look back.

Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

We need to renew our minds with God’s Word. To renew our mind means to replace our thoughts with God’s truth.

When a memory of your ex comes up, choose to replace those memories with God’s truth. You can meditate on verses that speak of God’s faithfulness to help you trust that God knows best.

I wrote Bible verses and reminders of God’s promises on sticky notes beside my bed during my breakup. These sticky notes were the first things I would see in the morning and the last things I saw at night. I needed those reminders because my boyfriend used to be the first and last person I would text.

Find Bible verses and promises of God to write down on a sticky note for you to practice renewing your mind with.

2 Corinthians 10:5 tells us to “Take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” When fear arises, remind yourself that God is faithful and that you can trust Him with your future. When thoughts like, “What if I never meet my future husband?” Keeps replaying in your mind, replace that thought with God’s Word. Here’s an example: “I thank you Jesus that you say in Psalm 37:4, as I delight myself in You, You will give me the desires of my heart. You know my desire for a husband and I trust You to bring Him at the right time.”

Keep God’s Word close so you have truth to turn to when your feelings and fears pull you back.

2. Don’t text your ex and try to stay as friends

Another reason I returned to my ex after our initial breakup was that we kept texting. We tried to be friends without being too close, but this stopped me from moving on and truly letting him go.

I understand how hard it is to stop talking to someone who was such a big part of your life. You may think that an occasional text will be harmless, but you are still playing with fire by still keeping in contact with him. (Side note: When you eventually do get married, your spouse will not want you to be friends with your ex anyways).

If God is asking you to let go, surrender the relationship fully. Continuing to text with the hope that you might get back together or stay as friends can make it harder to move forward in obeying God.

Proverbs 13:20 says, “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” Who we spend time with influences us. For me, staying in contact with my ex kept pulling my heart toward a relationship God had asked me to leave.

Set boundaries that support your obedience to God. When you feel tempted to text your ex, reach out to a trusted friend who can pray with you and remind you of God’s faithfulness and promises.

3. Delete the photos

Deleting photos was hard for me. I wanted to keep those memories, but keeping the photos also showed me that there was a part of my heart still holding on to my ex.

I also found myself checking my ex’s social media to see how he was doing. Even after unfollowing him, I would occasionally look at his profile. I had to ask myself, “Why am I still peeking into the past?”

If you keep looking through your photos or checking your ex’s page, that shows you have not completely let him go.

Deleting the photos and stopping those social media visits were practical steps I needed to take, and I believe they will help you too. Ask God to help you release your ex and even the feelings you may have had in that relationship

4. Have access to community and accountability

During my single season, I joined a singles ministry at my church. The focus was on helping us become whole as single people, and I really needed that.

After those gatherings, someone would often encourage me or share something that reminded me to trust God. I remember coming home, and my mom would tell me that my face was glowing. I had joy again, even while I was walking through a difficult season.

I also had close friends who spoke truth, encouraged me, and prayed with me. One of my biggest breakthroughs came when I confessed my fear of singleness to a friend/mentor. After we prayed, I felt a heavy weight lift off me.

Hebrews 10:24–25 encourages us to keep gathering together and encouraging one another. We need people who will help us follow Jesus when our emotions make obedience difficult.

Find a church community or trusted friend you can be honest with. Let them know when you are struggling or feel tempted to contact your ex. Give them room to speak truth into your life and help you stay accountable to what God has spoken to you.

5. Run to Jesus as your source of love and strength

This was the most important part of getting over my breakup. I had to learn to run to Jesus when I felt lonely and needed love.

For the first few weeks, I tried to fill every weekend with plans. I would ask friends to spend all Saturday and Sunday with me because I did not want to be alone. Then one weekend, no one could hang out, and I sensed God asking me, “Gaby, am I not enough?”

That question led me to start spending my Saturdays at coffee shops with the Lord. I spent time in His Word, prayed, and learned that I could experience His love even when no one else was with me.

Psalm 34:8 says, “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” We experience God’s goodness as we take refuge in Him. When you are hurting, tell Him what is on your heart and invite Him to give you a revelation of His love.

There were days when I found strength in God, then woke up the next morning needing that strength again. I had to keep seeking Jesus. He became my daily bread (source of love, satisfaction, and strength I needed).

Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” God is present with you in this season. You can bring Him your sadness, your fears, and your desire to be loved.

I am married now, and while I have an amazing husband, he cannot meet every need in my heart. I still need Jesus. What God taught me in my single season continues to strengthen me today.

Getting over a breakup takes time. Keep seeking God, renewing your mind with His truth, and surrounding yourself with people who will encourage you to follow Him. You can learn to experience His love and find joy in your single season.

I personally needed a heart check. Why am I doing what I’m doing? Why am I posting videos about Jesus and even sharing my Single but in a Relationship with God book?

I started with pure motives, as I felt the Lord call me to teach His word and encourage people to follow Jesus, but as I started seeing other people’s successes and followings on social media, the world’s ways started to influence my heart.

I was no longer posting purely to gain Christ (please Jesus), but to increase my own influence and following to feel “successful”.

I was confronted with Philippians 3:8, which says, “Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.”

The Holy Spirit convicted my heart as I read Philippians 3:8. “Why are you doing what you are doing?”

I had to ask myself, am I posting and doing what I am doing to gain Christ or to gain my own influence?

I was reminded why I wrote the Single but in a Relationship with God book in the first place and why I pursued Living Revelations. It was out of a place to please the Lord by obeying and sharing my testimony to encourage others.

Why are you following Jesus? Is it to gain Christ, or to gain your own selfish desires?

Set Your Affections on Things Above

Living an accomplished life and obtaining things is not bad, but when it becomes our sole desire above pleasing Jesus, we have now sinned against the Lord and created an idol in our hearts.

Only Jesus is worthy of our worship. In the age to come, there will only be One seated on the throne who is to be worshipped, and that is Jesus. If we want to produce godliness in our lives, we must set our affections (thoughts) on things above, and not on things on the earth.

God tells us in Colossians 3:2, “Set your affections on things above, not on things on earth.” Your affections will follow where your thoughts go. 

What do you think about a lot throughout the day? What you consume more of is what you will desire more of.

If we are constantly filling our thoughts with worldly things, that is what we will desire and spend our time and money on. For example, if we are consumed with looking good and finding a partner, that is all we will be obsessed about. If we keep looking at the nicest car models or homes that exist, that is all we will want and find our contentment in.

While having nice things, looking good, and finding a partner is not a bad thing, God does call us to live sober-minded and alert of the devil’s schemes. We can easily fall into idolatry and put other things above Jesus when our affections are set on the wrong things.

Jesus invites us to serve him with fervency, and to remember that this world is temporary, but what is to come is eternal.

If we are fixed only on our own success and worldly desires, we can never be about Jesus and His desires. Ecclesiastes 5:15 says, “Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb, and as everyone comes, so they depart. They take nothing from their toil that they can carry in their hands.” The things of this world will fade away.

May we focus on investing in eternal things and for our earthly accomplishments to bear fruit towards eternity and result in saved souls.

Make this your heart cry: “Let your kingdom come, and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

Will you set your affections on Jesus and what is to come? God has a purpose for your life, and it can only be found as we choose to set our affections on Jesus and what is to come.

Follow Jesus

To follow Jesus will not be easy. There’s a reason why Paul says “I press on” in Philippians 3:14.

Paul says, “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬). The word, “press on” means to suffer persecution.

Following Jesus will not be the popular way (the world’s way), and we will be mocked and persecuted for choosing Jesus, but the prize set before us is greater than any suffering we may face here on earth.

May we live awake and sober-minded, not giving in to temporary worldly pleasures, but instead looking towards eternity with Jesus.

Psalm 16:11 says, “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” Eternal pleasures are only found as we give our lives to following Jesus.

Are you living with the end in mind? Will you say yes to following Jesus no matter the cost?

We all live in fleshly bodies that are slaves to sin, but when we receive Jesus into our lives, His Spirit lives in us, and we become a new creation, no longer slaves to sin, but slaves to righteousness (Romans 6:17-18).

Every day we must choose to deny our fleshly desire, take up our cross, and follow Jesus (Matthew 16:24).

Be filled with the Holy Spirit daily. Put off the old man and choose to live with eternity in mind, beholding God’s Word (Jesus) daily. Our reward is not in this earth, but in the age to come when Jesus comes back.

Be Faithful to God

Faithfulness is more than just doing the right things. Faithfulness starts at a heart level. For example, we can be married and stay committed to our spouse, but unfaithful at heart.

It’s impossible to be faithful without Jesus. Our flesh by nature is fallen by sin. Apart from Jesus, we all have the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life that is not of God (1 John 2:16).

In Christ, however, we become a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17). God says in Ezekiel 36:26-27, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.”

Only God can create in us a singleness of heart and action, so that we will always fear God (Jeremiah 32:39). It is healthy to allow the Holy Spirit to check our hearts and stay unspotted from the world.

God tells us in James 1:27, “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”

We need to check our hearts daily and make sure we are not pursuing anything out of selfish desire. Just because we started off purely loving Jesus does not mean our hearts cannot stray from Him.

Though we live in this world, may we continue to live set apart from the world, loving Jesus and others purely to gain Christ. So remember, make it your goal to gain Christ.

Prayer: Jesus, only You are worthy of our love, devotion, and worship. Search our hearts and reveal any areas where our affections have drifted away from You. Help us to set our minds on things above and to live with eternity in mind. May our greatest desire be to gain Christ and to live for Your glory alone. Let Your kingdom come, and Your will be done in our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I was a very insecure person growing up, especially about my physical features. Though my mom loved me, she was often very critical of my looks. I do not blame her because she also grew up in an environment where she was criticized a lot.

Because my mom often compared me to other women, I sought validation from others and compared myself with others.

If my mom or boyfriends didn’t call me beautiful, I felt ugly. I would replay the thought that I was not beautiful till I got to a place where I truly believed I was not.

There were seasons in my life when I tried to look a certain way to please my boyfriend. It was not until I was 25 years old that I learned to find my identity in Christ and understand that my worth is found in what God says about me in the Bible and not from others’ opinions of me.

What is My Identity in Christ

The first thing you need to know about your identity in Christ is that you are loved.

You belong to Jesus. 

From beginning to end, the Bible shows God’s constant pursuit of His people. Sin separated us from God, but God sent His only begotten Son (who is spotless and perfect) to die for you so that you could be His.

Isaiah 54:5 says, “For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel;” You are God’s bride, His chosen and beloved one.

God also says we are children of God. Galatians 3:26 says, “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”

What does this all mean? It means that you are loved, wanted, and cared for by the God of the universe, the King of kings and Lord of Lords.

It is okay to want to be loved by people, but don’t let your identity be in how people love or treat you. People are not perfect, but God is perfect, so only His love is perfect (1 John 4:18).

Think about what being a wife and a child means. A wife is to be faithfully loved, cherished, and protected by her husband, and a child by the parent.

When we do not feel loved, or our circumstances are not good, we must remember our identity in Christ. We are a child of God and the bride of Christ.

Jesus Loves you

Jesus loves you so much. Will you believe this truth?

When you think no one is watching you, know that you are the apple of God’s eye (Psalm 17:8).

When you think no one is thinking about you, remember that God’s thoughts towards you outnumber the grains of sand (Psalm 139:18).

When you feel like no one is pursuing you or praying for you, know that Jesus is constantly interceding for you (Romans 8:34).

When you feel like no one cares about you, know that Jesus invites you to cast your cares on Him (1 Peter 5:7).

When you feel like no one is here to protect you, know that Jesus is your Shepherd (Psalm 23:1).

Whenever the thought, “Jesus does not love me,” comes to your mind, be intentional to renew your mind with God’s truth. Above are just a few examples of who God is to you.

Nothing can separate you from God’s love (Romans 8:38-39). God’s love is not something we need to always feel, but we must always know. By our understanding and revelation of His love, we will then experience His love.

We live in a sinful world, so bad things are bound to happen, but we can rest in our identity in Christ and look at what God’s Word says about us.

Made For Intimacy with God

You may never understand why Jesus loves you, but the truth is He does. What is man that You are mindful of him….(Psalms‬ ‭8‬:‭4‬).

God cares so much about you. In fact, God made you and me to have intimacy with Him.

He wants us to know Him intimately and not only by what someone tells you about Him. He wants a unique relationship with you that is different than His relationship with others. Every parent has a unique relationship with their children, and a wife has a relationship with her husband that is not the same as others.

What is spoiling your joy and intimacy with Jesus? Is it worry? Are there lies that you are believing? Is it greed or selfish ambition? Is it lust or offense?

These sins may seem “small” because they are just wrong thinking and feelings, but these sinful thoughts or “little foxes” do ruin our intimacy and relationship with Jesus.

Our heart was made to be a vineyard that bears fruit for us to taste and see God’s goodness.

Song of Solomon 2:15 says, “Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have tender grapes.”

It’s impossible to delight in God and live out our identity in Christ when we allow the little foxes of sin into our lives.

Will you catch the foxes that may be spoiling your relationship with God? What truths in the Bible do you need to declare over your life and choose to believe?

Instead of looking for love from an imperfect world and imperfect people, look for love from a God who is perfect and eternal. Jesus loves you. So remember, find your identity in Christ.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for loving us and inviting us into intimacy with You. Thank You for making a way for us to be reconciled to God through Your sacrifice on the cross. Help me to live daily knowing my identity in You and how much You love me.

Even if you’re not called to be in the 5-fold ministry (apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, and teacher), as a believer in Jesus, God still calls us to live a life that is worthy of what Jesus paid for on the cross — in all purity, humility, peace, and bearing the fruit of the Spirit.

Philippians 1:27 says, “Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ…” The word “only” shows us how this kind of living, a life where we consider what Jesus did on the cross and respond rightly, is the life we should be living.

A life that gives God reverence and is in awe of His lovingkindness, patience, and mercy.

Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel.

When you are tempted to complain, only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel.
When are you tempted to gossip, only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel.
When you are tempted to give in to bitterness, only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel.
When you are tempted to sin against God, only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel.

How to Live a Life Worthy of the Gospel

When we remember what Jesus did for us, it helps us to give Him our best and live worthy of the gospel. We love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).

Ephesians 4:1-3 says, “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

We may have different callings, but we are all called to be lowly, gentle, and with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, and keeping the unity of the Spirit by peace.

Let’s make it our aim this year to give Jesus our best.  Jesus gave HIS life for us. May we not forget God’s lovingkindness towards us. Only He is worthy of our laid-down lives.

Philippians 2:5-7 says, “Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.”

Even though Jesus was God, he humbly put on flesh and gave Himself unto death on the cross (Philippians 2:8) so that we could be saved. May we too live a humble and laid-down life for Jesus, just as He did for us.

The least we should give Jesus is our best.

Only in Jesus will we find an abundant life on earth and for eternity.

“Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God”” (John‬ ‭6‬:‭67‬-‭69‬).

May we remember that Jesus holds the words of eternal life. Set your affections on Him and His ways, and you will live a life worthy of the gospel. We become what we set our mind on.

Will you live a life worthy of what Jesus did on the cross for you?

How to Overcome Temptation and Live a Holy Life

Temptation is everywhere. The temptation to give in to our fleshly desires can happen anytime and anywhere. When temptation comes, that is our time to remember that Jesus is our true bread of life (John 6:35) and not the things of this world.

As we fix our eyes on Jesus, our daily bread, we will lose the hunger for sin and instead hunger for righteousness.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled” (Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬)

It is a good thing to set ourselves apart to be pure and holy. Jesus didn’t die on the cross to excuse us to live stuck in cycles of sin. Jesus died on the cross to give us the opportunity to find an abundant life in Him that is free from the bondage of sin. 

2 Corinthians 7:2 says, “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

What do you need to do to live a holy life? How can you perfect holiness in the fear of God?

Every day we are invited to walk in the light, as He is in the light, and as we do, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7).

Our flesh without Christ is in bondage to sin, which leads to death, but when we are with Christ, we are slaves to righteousness, which leads to life (Romans 6:16).

May we live a life worthy of the gospel (Philippians 1:27). Jesus gave up His life so that we could be free from the bondage of sin and have eternal life.

With Jesus, we can overcome the temptations that come at us.

Romans 6:1-4 says, “Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.”

Are you living a consistent life of loyalty to Jesus? God is looking for those whose heart are loyal (completely surrendered) to Him.

2 Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…”

The grace Jesus has shown us was never meant to excuse us to keep sinning, but to be set free to walk in righteousness. ‭‭

Are you prioritizing living a life worthy of the gospel every day? In what ways can your conduct honor Christ more?

Jesus is looking for a faithful bride who will live a life worthy of the gospel. Invite the Holy Spirit to inspect your life and show you any areas in your life that don’t align with God’s Word.

The Ministry of Reconciliation

Did you know that you are called to ministry? It may not look like “full-time ministry” at a church or being sent out as a missionary, but God has given you the ministry of reconciliation when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

The ministry of reconciliation is the call to share the good news of Jesus’ death, which made us right with God, and His resurrection, which promises us eternal life in Him. We are called to bring people to Jesus and allow Him to work in their hearts, making them right with God if they accept Him into their lives.

2 ‭‭Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭18‬-‭20‬ says, “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”

The word “pleading” in the Greek means to “call to one’s side”. God is using us to call His people to return to Him by receiving Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

How wonderful that we get to be an ambassador of Christ and allow God to draw His people through us. Who can you share the good news of Jesus with? How can your life point others to Jesus?

So remember, live worthy of the gospel. Give Jesus your best, walk in holiness, stay loyal to Him, and live in a manner worthy of what He accomplished on the cross for you.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for giving Your life for me. Thank You for the cross, for Your mercy, and for the abundant life You have made available to me. Help me to hunger for righteousness and to say yes to You consistently. I want to live worthy of the gospel and give You my best. Amen.

For the longest time, I was bound by fear. My emotions and need to control were rooted in my fears. But praise God, through being rooted in God’s truth and love, I found His love perfecting me to a place where fear no longer has a stronghold in my life.

I went through a process of healing as I encountered the love of Jesus. As I sought Jesus and came to Him in my pain, the Lord perfected me by His love and cast out fear.

That’s when I found true freedom.

Jesus says in John 8:36, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” There is freedom in Christ, and His perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18).

There is no way we can experience freedom when we are bound by sin. Fear, lust, anger, unforgiveness, selfish ambition, and jealousy are forms of sin.

Maybe your struggle is not with fear, but whatever your struggles may be, know there is freedom as we surrender our lives to Jesus and encounter God’s love.

As we approach Holy Week and Easter (Resurrection Sunday), I want us to reflect on the passion of the Lord, His immense love for us, and how the Passover beautifully points to Jesus as the Lamb of God, who sets us free from the bondage of sin.

What is Passover?

The Passover meal is first mentioned in Exodus 12.

Exodus 12:1-11 says, “Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man’s need you shall make your count for the lamb. Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight. And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire—its head with its legs and its entrails. You shall let none of it remain until morning, and what remains of it until morning you shall burn with fire. And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover.”

God continues to explain why it’s called the Passover meal in Exodus 12:12-14, which says, “For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment. I am the Lord. Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance.”

The Passover meal was meant for the Israelites to remember God’s mercy upon them because of the blood of the lamb that protects them from God’s judgment. The purpose of the Passover meal was to be a foreshadowing of Jesus, the ultimate spotless lamb of God, who shed His blood for us to save us from God’s judgment.

God instructed the Israelites to find a lamb without blemish, a perfect, spotless lamb. Only Jesus can be the spotless lamb because He is God, which makes Him perfect.

The Passover meal is a powerful meal that now points us to Jesus.

Now we get access to Salvation by faith, as we believe Jesus to be our Lord and Savior and follow Him. We get to abide in the shadow of the almighty God as we dwell in the secret place of the Most High (Psalm 91:1).

Egypt as a Symbol of Bondage

During this time, the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Egypt represents bondage, sin. The Bible tells us that sin leads to death, and when we are overcome by sin, we live in bondage, not freedom.

Often, we mistakenly believe that following Jesus restricts our freedom because of the rules we have to follow. However, these rules are designed to protect us. Think of a roller coaster. Roller Coasters are designed with parameters and boundaries to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride.

God’s rules and boundaries aren’t restrictions, but rather guidelines that set us up to enjoy life with freedom.

When we are trapped in sin, like the Israelites were in Egypt, we are not truly free. Moses was a foreshadowing of Jesus, who leads us out of bondage (Egypt) into freedom and everlasting life. We now have freedom because Jesus died on the cross for us, redeeming us by making us right with God through the shedding of His blood.

Abundant Life in Christ

John 10:10 is one of my favorite verses. Jesus says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

When you’re bound by sin, you’re not free. Addiction is an example. Whether it’s pornography, drugs, or alcohol, addiction causes you to be bound to practicing certain behaviors. That’s not freedom.

But Jesus came to set us free. In Jesus Christ, we are set free to live the holy and righteous life that He called us to live.

Jesus has his last supper, the Passover meal with his disciples. Luke 22:14-20 says, “When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.” After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”

Jesus made a new covenant, in what we now call communion, where we no longer have to sacrifice animals for our redemption (being made right with God), but instead, we get to look to Jesus, who is the ultimate lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29). Jesus also chose to die during Passover, when lambs were also being slaughtered (Luke 22:7-8).

Jesus shed His blood for us, died, and on the 3rd day, He rose from the grave. Jesus’s last words on the cross were, “It is finished!” (John 19:30).

Jesus finished the work for your freedom and your salvation.

When we accept Jesus into our lives and obey Him, we receive the gift of eternal life. Will you give your life to Jesus and follow Him daily? What is distracting you from following Jesus? Are there sin patterns you are tolerating that are preventing you from experiencing the freedom Jesus died for you to have?

Look to Jesus and invite Him to reveal Himself to you. Jesus is your passover lamb who is also alive. He is your redeemer. So remember, there is freedom in Christ.

Prayer: Jesus, reveal yourself to us as our Savior, the spotless lamb of God. I thank you, Jesus, for what you’ve done. We celebrate your resurrection. We celebrate you as our Savior and the freedom we have in You.

Bible Verses on Salvation

• Hosea 13:14: “I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. O Death, I will be your plagues! O Grave, I will be your destruction!” (NKJV)
• Revelation 1:18: “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.” (NKJV)
• Isaiah 25:8: “He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth.” (NIV)
• 1 Peter 1:18-19: “…knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” (NKJV)

I struggled with insecurity and thought being married would cure it. Marriage only made it worse.

My husband struggled with lust and fell into pornography during our early years of marriage. I didn’t know how to love him back or myself. Now that I reflect on these years, I am not surprised that I was anxious and shaken.

When our source of love is in the hands of imperfect people (we are all imperfect), our identity will be shaken, and we will be prone to having an insecure heart.

If we want a perfect and whole heart, we need to be rooted in a love that is perfect. That perfect love can only come through Jesus.

God’s love alone is perfect and has the power to perfect us (1 John 2:5).

I had to learn and still am learning to be rooted in God’s love. The truth is, we can all have access to an intimate, deep love from our husband, Jesus, if we surrender our lives to Him and choose to seek Him.

We can extend unconditional love to others when we actively receive the unconditional love Jesus has given us. We can only be secure in who we are when we have the revelation of how much we are loved and seen by Jesus.

You are the Bride of Christ

Who is the bride of Christ? It is those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Jesus desires that all of us be saved and become His bride (1 Timothy 2:3). Jesus came down from heaven and put on flesh so that you and I could be His.

Jesus did not die for some, but for all. But, we must accept Jesus as our Savior to be His. Saying yes to Jesus is like saying yes to a marriage. In order to be married to someone, we must first say yes, and agree to a covenant that includes being faithful and dying to ourselves to be one with our spouse.

The concept of marriage is the same as our relationship with Jesus. This is why throughout the Bible, we see the church described as the bride of Christ.

Revelation 19:7-9 says, “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ”

Jesus is coming back for His bride, which is you and I. There is a beautiful wedding supper of the Lamb that is being prepared for us.

We are already married to Jesus when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and choose to abide in Him, but our final marriage union with Jesus will be sealed when He comes back for us.

In Jewish custom, a marriage was first sealed by betrothal, but the couple did not live together until a year later (once the groom had prepared a home for the bride).

We are now betrothed to Jesus, but He is coming back to officiate our union with Him. Jesus purchased you with His blood, and He is expecting a pure and faithful bride when He comes back.

You belong to Jesus. Just because you do not physically see Jesus does not mean you are not married to Him.

We must understand that we are the bride of Christ so that we continue to keep ourselves unspotted from this world (James 1:27).  Jesus is coming back for a pure bride.

Will you say yes to Jesus? 

Jesus Loves You

Don’t believe the lie that Jesus does not love you. Many people have a problem with God’s judgment, questioning God’s love if hell exists.

The truth is, we serve a righteous and holy God. God cannot fellowship with what is dark, because he is Light (John 1). But God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

God so loved the world, and He so loves you. This is why He sent Jesus to die on the cross, so that our sinful nature and sins could be washed away and we can be His bride. We don’t serve a dead Bridegroom, but a Bridegroom who is alive. Jesus rose on the 3rd day, and we are promised that the same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the grave would raise us up too to have eternal life (Romans 8:11).

Jesus loves you so much. In John 3:36, Jesus says, “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

Jesus does not want any of us to experience God’s wrath. May we daily remember the deep love Jesus has for us, our call to be His bride, that we would not forsake Him. There is truly nothing in this world that can compare to Jesus.

Why do we care about capturing man’s heart when we’ve already captured the heart of Jesus?

‭‭Song of Songs‬ ‭4‬:‭9‬ ‭says, “You have captured my heart, my treasure, my bride. You hold it hostage with one glance of your eyes, with a single jewel of your necklace.”

Did you know that you have captured the heart of God? He sees you as His treasure.

A bride only cares to be seen by her husband. What would it look like to live every day only caring to please our Husband, Jesus? What would it look like to let His love be our source of love, security, and identity?

We are all craving for attention and love, but are we looking to the right person to receive what we actually need?

To the single person or married person who feels unseen and unloved, know that there is One who is madly in love with you. His name is Jesus. His love is like no other. He surpasses all lovers on this earth because He is God and His love is perfect and pure (1 John 4:18).

Jesus cares to search you and know you (Psalm 139:1). He even knows your thoughts before a word is spoken (Psalm 139:4).

God is seeking after your heart, but are you seeking after His?

Jesus willingly suffered and died on the cross to purchase you back to be His bride, if you would accept Him as your Lord and Savior. Stop seeking after the attention of lesser lovers. The lust of the world never satisfies but leaves us empty and bound by sin.

Seek after a love that fulfills you and frees you. Seek after Jesus. 

Intimacy with Jesus

We all want to be intimately known, seen, and loved. So many times we look for “lesser lovers”, instead of our ultimate Lover who is Jesus. There is no one who can love you perfectly like Jesus. 

You were made to be loved, treasured, and sought after by Jesus.

Sin separated us from God, but God sent Jesus, His only begotten son, to die for us that we could be made right with God if we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

We were made to have an intimate relationship with Jesus. Will you take time to seek Jesus and spend time in the Bible?  Invite the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus as your bridegroom as you open up the Bible. May our response be to set our hearts only to please Jesus.

No earthly relationship can be your Savior and fulfill you. Only Jesus is your Savior. May we not forget that we have a Lover and Husband, Jesus.

Isaiah 54:5 says, “For your Maker is your husband—the Lord Almighty is his name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.”

If you are battling with insecurity, fear, or loneliness, turn to Jesus. You were made to have an intimate relationship with Jesus.

Apart from God, we will experience loneliness, insecurity, anxiety, and all other darknesses because only in Jesus can we be whole and complete. His love alone is what perfects us (1 John 4:18).

We can’t create a pure heart in our own strength. Only God can create in us a pure heart (Psalm 51:10). What is our part then to be found spotless, blameless, and at peace with God? To actively live a surrendered life to Jesus. As the bride of Christ, we are called to make every effort to be found spotless, blameless, and at peace with God (2 Peter 3:14).

This looks like going to Jesus when you’re feeling hurt, angry, sad, anxious, envious, lustful, etc., and allowing His love and truth to wash over you. As we come to Jesus with an open heart to receive His love, His love purifies and perfects our broken hearts.

Are we living every day, preparing ourselves as the bride of Jesus? Are we setting our hearts apart to be holy and pure for when He comes back to completely take us as His bride? God wants you to live every day knowing that you are the bride of Christ. Satisfaction and fulfillment come from being rooted and established in God’s love.

So remember, you are the Bride of Christ.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for loving us with a perfect and faithful love. Forgive us for seeking fulfillment, validation, and security from lesser lovers instead of from You. Create in us a clean heart and help us to surrender every broken place to You. May we desire to please You above all else as we prepare for the day You return for us. Amen.

We can easily be led by our fears or emotions, but we must learn how to be led by the Spirit.

Has a bad decision or a past incident left you carrying fear? I had 2 infections back in the summer. The doctors prescribed me a cream that caused bad itchiness all over my body throughout the night.

When the second infection came back positive, they prescribed me another medicine in a cream form. I had much hesitation with this cream medicine because of my bad previous experience with another cream medicine.

As I was about to decline the medication, I felt the Holy Spirit convict me that I didn’t seek the Lord, whether I should take the medicine, but instead I was about to make a decision out of fear.

To my surprise, I felt the Lord say to take the cream medicine. There was fear in my stepping out in faith, but I knew my decision to take this cream was out of faith and not fear.

I took the cream, and it didn’t give me any bad reactions but aided in my healing. This situation was a great reminder for me to be led by the Spirit.

Do not be led by fear

Before making a decision, ask yourself: “Am I making this decision out of fear or faith? Am I doing this because I’m afraid of (insert reason), or am I doing this because I feel the peace and leading of the Lord?

There’s a difference between being afraid as we step out in faith and making decisions driven by fear.

We cannot be led by the Holy Spirit and fear. The spirit of fear and the Holy Spirit are 2 separate spirits. If we want to be led by the Holy Spirit, we must remove fear by renewing our minds with God’s truth.

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Choose to be led by the Holy Spirit because He knows what is best.

Fear is a tactic of the enemy. It was fear that stopped the Israelites from entering the Promised Land (Numbers 13-14). Joshua tells the Israelites in Numbers 14:9, “Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.”

Joshua already warned the Israelites to not fear, but they gave in to fear and missed out on God’s best.

We also see in Jeremiah 42-43 that the remnant of Judah was afraid to remain in Judah under Babylon, and instead disobeyed God out of fear and went back to Egypt (to what seemed safe and comfortable). Jeremiah comforts the people with God’s word by saying, “Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid; do not be afraid of him,’ says the Lord, ‘for I am with you, to save you and deliver you from his hand” (‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭42‬:‭11).

The leaders of the remnant of Judah, unfortunately gave in to fear and ended up dying in Egypt. They disobeyed the Word of God out of fear.

Fear never leads us to God’s best. The enemy uses fear to cause us to disobey God. Let us not partner with the spirit of fear, but instead walk by faith and follow the Holy Spirit.

I sat on my bed, worried about how I was going to reach the big goals I had on my whiteboard, but the Holy Spirit led me to look at this verse: “For You are great, and do wondrous things; You alone are God” (Psalms‬ ‭86‬:‭10‬).

I needed this reminder. I was so fixed on how great my problems were instead of fixing my eyes on how great God is.

Instead of worrying, will you turn your attention to worship Jesus?

Worrying does us no good, and it never produces the God-solutions we want to see. God tells us in Matthew 6:27, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Worrying brings no benefits to our lives. We need to learn to set our worries aside and trust God. We learn how to stop worrying as we learn how to trust God.

How To Trust God

Thoughts of fear and worry are bound to enter your mind. We must be intentional to renew our minds with God’s Word whenever fearful thoughts come. To renew our mind means to replace every fearful thought with God’s truth.

Romans 12:2 says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

If we want to see God’s best in our lives, we must be willing to renew our minds and live according to God’s ways, and not the world’s ways. To live according to God’s way and to trust God will require us to align our thinking, which positions us to trust God.

Instead of thinking thoughts like, “I hope God will come through”, think thoughts like this: “I thank you God, that you hear my cries, and you will deliver me out of all my troubles.”

Turn God’s Word into your own personal declaration. The thought above comes from the Bible verse, Psalm 34:17 which says, “The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.”

I love that this verse says that God will deliver us from all our troubles, not just some, but all.

Have Bible verses ready to renew your mind with and meditate on.

Psalm 119:11 says, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” God’s Word needs to be hidden in our hearts. The only way to hide God’s Word in our hearts is to take the time to read God’s Word. Take time daily to meditate on the Word of God.

Invite the Holy Spirit to give you revelation and understanding of God’s Word and who God is. May we live every day with a reverence towards God and an awareness of who He is and how He is with us and for us.

The moment thoughts of worry arise in your mind, be intentional to replace them with the Word of God. We learn how to trust God by choosing to lay our worries aside and believing in God’s Word and faithfulness.

Do Your Part and Trust God

God commands us not to worry. We see this in passages like Philippians 4 and Matthew 6. Throughout the Bible, we also see God commanding His children not to fear. If we are living outside of God’s will and not obeying His Word, we then have a reason to worry. Proverbs 19:23 says, “The fear of the LORD leads to life, And he who has it will abide in satisfaction; He will not be visited with evil.”

As long as we are seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, we have nothing to worry about. God tells us in Matthew 6:31-34, “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

This does not mean we will not go through troubles, but we can trust God to get us through every storm we face.

Our job is to do our part (seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness), and God will do His part.

The same God who helped the Israelites leave Egypt safely and split the Red Sea is the same God who is here to help us. Exodus 14:14 says, “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

Do your part in obeying God. As you do your part, God will do the impossible part.

Worrying can often lead us to pursue things that are not of God, just to speed things up which causes us to birth an “Ishmael” instead of God’s initial good plans. I have many times tried to do things in my own timeline to reach my desired goal, or pursue opportunities without having the peace of God. These things have only left me stressed and brought me further away from what God wants to do through me.

Worrying truly brings us no good. Psalm 37:8 says, “Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only causes harm.”

The quicker we can grasp this, the better our lives will be. Do not try to do things in your strength. Trust God and let God fight your battles. Practice learning on the Word of God.

You Serve a Great God

Are we more convinced of how great our problems are or how great our God is? Make a habit of turning your worries into worship. God alone is great, and He does wondrous things. He is known for accomplishing difficult and impossible things.

Just because you have a problem does not mean God is not present. We live in an imperfect world because of sin, but the good news is we have a perfect God who is always present to comfort and help us.

Let your problems remind you to call upon God for help and to put your trust in Him. Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.”

God is available to comfort you in your pain, mess, confusion, and sorrows. Go to Him as your refuge for help and trust His timing and process. Remember that you serve a GREAT God. You can have confidence as you rest in God’s ability and not your own.

Will you give attention to who God is rather than your current circumstances?

While things may not always turn out how you pictured they would be, this does not mean God is not good or present. His ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Trust in God’s faithfulness despite the problems you face. It’s our job to follow Jesus, and God’s job to order our steps.

Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.” As we seek to follow Jesus wholeheartedly, He will order and establish our steps.

This means we do not need to worry about the present or future, along with the “how’s” for the assignments that God gives us.

Are you allowing Jesus to be your Shepherd in ALL areas of your life? Does your heart seek to please His will and not your own?

There is safety in following Jesus because His way is always perfect for us. We don’t have to worry as we abide in the secret place of the Most High (Psalm 91:1) and stand upon the Word of God.

Will you practice turning your times of worry into worshipping God?

Be comforted that even God commands us not to be anxious about anything, but instead by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, letting our requests be made known to Him (Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬).

The next time you are worried, remember that you serve a GREAT God. Nothing is too hard for God to do.

As long as you are abiding in Jesus, you will be protected under His care. So remember, stop worrying and start worshipping the One who is always in control.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You that I can trust You with every part of my life. When I start to worry, remind me to fix my eyes on You instead of my problems. Teach me to turn my worries into worship and to rest in Your presence. You are great and do wondrous things, so help me to trust Your plan and timing.

We all long to be loved because we were created to be loved. While relationships here on earth are vital for us to thrive, we must remember that God’s love is greater than any love we could ever experience on earth.

The love of Jesus is pure, perfect, and great. No earthly relationship could ever surpass God’s love. Ephesians 3:17-18 says, “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.“

We need a revelation of Jesus’ enduring love so that we, too, can endure this life steadfast in the faith.

Hebrews 12:1-4 says, “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.”

Jesus does not promise us an easy life with no troubles. We need to stand strong and fight the good fight of faith daily, and it starts with being rooted in God’s love. As we behold Jesus and His enduring love for us, we can finish our race strong.

Let us aim to live as Paul, who said, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).

What is hindering you from fighting the good fight and keeping the faith?  How can you be more intentional in fixing your eyes on the enduring love of Jesus toward you?

Man of Sorrows

Though Jesus is the Good Shepherd, He chose to be led like a lamb to the slaughter because of His great love for us. He didn’t bother to defend Himself close to His crucifixion because He knew He had to die for us. Isaiah 53:7 says, “He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.”

Jesus is God, but He chose to put on flesh, suffer as a Man, and die for us so that in Him, we can find redemption (right standing with God) and eternal life.

Take time to ask the Holy Spirit to give you a revelation of the sufferings of Jesus and understand the depths of His love for you. Jesus endured the cross with joy and bore every weight of sin so that we don’t have to bear the burdens of this world and sin.

His love for us is an enduring one.

Think about how patient and kind God has been toward you. Jesus’s love willingly waits for us with long-suffering and pursues us even at the cost of enduring the shame of the cross.

The cross looks glorious now for us as Christians, but the cross was not a glorious thing back during Jesus’s time. The cross represented shame and a criminal’s death.

Jesus gladly endured the cross, despising the shame because of how much He loves us (Hebrews 12:2).

Jesus, who being in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross (Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬-‭8‬).

Remember every day how much Jesus loves you and His enduring love for you. Do not believe the lie of the enemy that you are not loved. God’s love has been lavished upon us through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Living with the Cross Before Us

What would it look like if we lived with the cross before us, remembering what Jesus did for us? You may mentally know that Jesus died on the cross, but has it become real and alive in your heart?

This is when we need the Holy Spirit to reveal the meaning of the death and resurrection of Jesus.

May we live with a revelation of the cross every day, remembering how greatly Jesus loved us and that He willingly suffered and died on the cross so that we could have eternal life.

None of us deserves eternal life, but Jesus chose to make a way for us to have an abundant life through His death. Only the blood of Jesus can wash our sins away (1 Peter 1:17-18).

We need a daily revelation of God’s love to follow Jesus successfully. We can only love Jesus because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).

Receive the love of Jesus as you look to the cross and choose to daily follow Him that you may be saved. He is worthy of our laid-down lives.

Following Jesus out of mere religion will never last long. If we want to live out what Jesus says in Matthew 16:24, to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Jesus, we must be rooted in God’s love that is revealed through Jesus Christ. 

It is the enduring love that Jesus displayed on the way to the cross and His crucifixion that strengthens us to carry our own cross to follow Jesus.

As we remember His great mercy and love, we become empowered to love Jesus back.

Will you ask Jesus to give you a greater revelation of His love for you on the cross? 

We have real hope that death isn’t the end because Jesus is alive! Jesus was crucified, but on the third day he rose again. He overcame death, so in Jesus, we too will overcome death and live forever.

Jesus says in Revelation 1:18, “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.” May you experience the depth of Jesus’s sacrifice and the power of His resurrection.

So remember, the enduring love of Jesus is like no other. 

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for loving me with an enduring love. Thank You for the cross, for Your sacrifice, and for the hope I have in You. Help me live every day rooted in Your love.
