Disappointment leaves when Jesus becomes our one desire because He will never fail us. Only He was made to fulfill us. Make Jesus Your one desire.

There have been times when I have been disappointed because of my desires not being met. I’ve had desires to meet financial goals, certain expectations from friends and loved ones, and life goals in general.

My desires are not always being met, but in those moments of disappointment, I remind my heart that I am never in lack because I have Jesus, the lover and keeper of my soul (Psalm 121:5).

Many desires can arise in our hearts, but let us not forget the one most important desire we should have: loving Jesus and beholding His beauty.

Psalm 27:4 says, “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.”

May beholding Jesus be our only desire now and for eternity. We were made to have fellowship with Jesus. Nothing else will satisfy but Him.

There is no one and nothing more worthy than Jesus. Jesus alone deserves our utmost affection. It can be easy to give our desires and attention to things of this world, but let us not lose sight of who is most important which is Jesus.

What has been consuming the majority of your thoughts and time? Have you cared more about what people think than what God thinks? Are you completely satisfied in Jesus alone?

These are questions we must ask ourselves to make sure Jesus is our only Lord and desire in life. This world is but a vapor, but eternity with Jesus will be forever (James 4:14).

Let’s keep Jesus as our only pursuit in all we do. Only He is most worthy. Psalm 145:3 says, “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.”

It’s never a waste of time knowing Jesus. He is the only One we will be beholding and worshipping in eternity. Every knee will bow at the name of Jesus and every tongue will acknowledge that Jesus is Lord (Phil. 2:10-11).

Paul from the Bible lived a life that showed Jesus was everything to him. He was willing to suffer and give up his life for the sake of the gospel and to know Jesus.

He says in Philippians 3:8, “I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ.”

Jesus was more important than anything in this world to Paul. May Jesus be more important than anything else to you as well. Everything in this world will pass away, but Jesus reigns forever.

Don’t let your circumstances make you forget the wonderful acts of God. There is no one greater than the God in the Bible.

What is captivating your heart at this moment? Will you set your desire on things above and not on earthly things?

We were made to worship ONE person and that is Jesus. The beauty of the Lord was meant to captivate our hearts. The world will present many things for us to worship, but let us behold the only One who is worthy to receive glory, honor, and power (Revelation 4:11).

May we never lose our awe in the majestic wonder and beauty of the Lord Jesus, the creator of all things.

How amazing is it to know that God has chosen us to be His, and He to be our God? He could have allowed us to be doomed in hell because of our sins, but instead, He pursued us with fervent love and sent His only begotten Son to die for our sins so that we could be with Him forever. In Christ, we get to be in eternity and behold the Lamb of God on His throne. May we make Jesus our one desire now on earth.

Let Jesus become your everything because He is your everything. Everything in this world will fade, but God and His word never will (Isaiah 40:8). So remember, make Jesus your one desire.

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for always meeting my every need. We are grateful that in You there is no room for disappointment because You always come through for us. Thank you for being our God.

Tomorrow is not promised to us and we have only one life to live on this earth. This is the time to keep your lamps burning because Jesus is coming back soon.

I’ve been convicted of not burning for what Jesus burns for which is souls. He longs to see all saved. I’ve had days where I chose to only fix my eyes on my to-do’s and leave no time to pray for unsaved friends and family members. I have also refused to share Jesus with people at the store because of my own convenience.

God showed me I was not burning for Him because of my lack of intimacy with Him. The only way for us to keep our lamps burning for Jesus is to have intimate fellowship with Him daily. Jesus is a consuming fire, so as we allow Him to consume us, our lamps will keep burning.

Jesus says in Luke 12:35-37, “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes.”

Are we living every day ready and watching for Jesus to come back? Or are we living selfishly and forgetting that in any moment Jesus can come back? Have we been living in sin, numb from the presence of Jesus and not having a fear of God?

These are questions we need to ask ourselves every day. May we never be lacking in zeal, but keep our spiritual fervor, serving the Lord (Romans 12:11)

Are you living in a way that allows Jesus to redeem the times when you were lost and bound in darkness? When we did not know Jesus, we spent our time on things that either kept us bound or made no eternal impact.

Now that we know Jesus and are one with Him, He has the power to redeem the time we lost for His glory.

The times we lost to know Him can now be accelerated by His grace. The opportunities we could have shared Jesus with someone can now be made open, and the time wasted in sin can now go towards serving God and others.

What do you need to remove in your life to allow Jesus to redeem your time? What are you called to steward and do in this season?

Today is the day we need to get our lives right with Jesus and give Him our all. Jesus says in Luke 12:40, “You also must be ready because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

We are called to live ready and expectant for Jesus’s coming. This means we should never put off getting our lives right with Jesus. At any moment Jesus can come back to judge the world.

Now is the time to run to Jesus and embrace His mercy by turning away from all that is dark. Hebrews 9:28 says that Jesus will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.

Will you live every day ready and waiting for Jesus’s second coming?

Nothing can come to the glory we will receive in the age to come with Jesus. Our greatest joy should be in eternity with Jesus.

Jesus is coming back for us and preparing a place in heaven for those who accept Him as their Lord and Savior. (John 14:3). Let us live every day expectant and ready for when Jesus comes back.

Matthew 24:27 says, “For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”

When Jesus comes back, ALL will see Him coming with the clouds. There is only ONE God and ONE hope we have and that is Jesus. Nothing in this world can promise us eternal life but only Jesus. Let us live every day burning for Jesus and seeking Him.

Our lives are like the grass and flowers of the field — we will die at some point. The Word of God however will endure forever. Without Jesus, our glory is temporary, but in Jesus, our glory will last for eternity

1 Peter 1:24-25 says, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.”

Let us live each day fighting the good fight of faith with the aim of taking hold of eternal life (1 Timothy 6:12). How you live today affects your eternity. It can be easy to be consumed with our day-to-day life, but we must live with eternity in mind. Revelation 11:15 says, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign forever and ever.”

Today is the day we have to live burning for Jesus and putting aside all fleshly desires. “Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life” (Galatians 6:8). So remember, keep your lamps burning for Jesus.

Prayer: Jesus, may we embrace and burn for you every day of our lives. As we await your return, may we live each day seeking and loving You. You are deserving of all our time and attention.

Satisfaction does not come by having perfect circumstances but as we set our affections on things above where Jesus is. Set your affections on things above.

I found myself greatly disappointed when we didn’t get the home we wanted. I lost joy and felt everything was going to go wrong for us. As I spent time with Jesus, He reminded me to set my mind on things above where He is seated at. As I turned my attention to Jesus and the eternity that is to come with Him, my joy returned.

It just took a shift from my circumstances to Jesus that I then found joy.

Maybe you didn’t lose a home, but is there something recently that you lost that you really wanted? A certain position? A raise? A relationship? A loved one Whatever loss you may be facing, know that you can still have joy because you have Jesus who is ALL that you need.

Psalm 23:1 reminds us, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing.” Colossians 3:2 also says, “Set your affections on things above, not on earthly things.” As we choose to set our affections on Jesus and eternity, we will find joy.

Will you fix your eyes on Jesus and what is to come instead of circumstances?

Jesus is coming back to rule and reign with us. There will be a new heaven and earth where no evil will enter (Revelation 21:1,27).

It can be easy to be consumed with our lives now and forget the age to come when Jesus will rule and reign in the new heaven and earth. We must set our affections on things above and remember our King Jesus who is alive and seated at the right hand of God. Our eternity matters more than our lives on this earth because eternity will be forever.

It’s time we set our affections toward things that will matter for eternity. May our hearts cry out every day, “Come Lord Jesus.” “The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’” (Revelation 22:17).

Are we living every day in a way that is aware of Jesus’ coming? Are we making ourselves ready to be a faithful bride when He comes? Or have we fixed our eyes on the desires of the flesh that have no eternal worth?

We have a glorious inheritance that is to come for those in Christ Jesus. Imagine having 1 billion dollars in your bank account that you get to use 5 years from now. I’m sure you would be excited and live with great joy for what is to come.

Our inheritance in Christ is far greater than all the money in the world. In Christ, we have eternal life with Him.

There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things will pass away (Revelation 21:4). Eternity will last forever. May we live eternal-minded, choosing to live for Jesus and holding fast to our faith in Him, not wasting our Salvation by sinning (Colossians 1:22-23).

Paul says in Ephesians 1:18-19, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people and his incomparably great power for us who believe.”

Let us fix our eyes on what is unseen for what is seen is temporal but what is unseen is eternal (2 Cor. 4:18).

Ask God to make eternity real for you. Read the book of Revelation weekly too so that your heart may be set towards your glorious inheritance with Jesus. Our lives on this earth are temporal, but eternity will be forever. So remember, set your affection on things above.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for being all that we need. When things do not go as planned, may we shift our focus on the things above, because we know that You have something better in store for us.
