The walk of faith isn’t always easy. There may be moments when we will doubt what God has told us, but He is always faithful. God doesn’t give up on us in our unbelief. If we ask him to help our unbelief, He will.
If you had told me this time last year that I would pick up my things and join a group of like-minded individuals to go out in the world to become missionaries across the nations, I would have laughed in your face.
It was impossible. I didn’t have the funds by any means, but God made it possible.
I didn’t have the money to make my deposit for school. However, within a week I found that I had exceeded that amount by almost double of what was owed. God faithfully brought people into my life to give what I needed. By the weekend of me leaving my full-time job, I was fully funded for the first half of my discipleship training program.
I am now a part of Youth with a Mission (YWAM) in Kona, Hawaii and learning how to use the talents of music that God has given me to be able to glorify God throughout the nations. I am ecstatic to be here, but the path to get here did not come easy. There were times of doubt when I didn’t believe that God was real and would provide for me.
Through this, I’ve learned that it is okay to ask Him to help our unbelief. When we ask Him to help us, He reveals Himself to us because He is a good Father. He always replaces doubt with knowledge; fear with peace; and hopelessness with hope. Every time I had a moment of doubt that I was meant to go to YWAM, He always confirmed it for me.
God is faithful. He only needs our small mustard seed of faith and obedience to do what only He can do. Jesus says in Matthew 17:20, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
When we come to Him with the little faith we have, He will take that and move us forward with strength. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13)
When we realize that Jesus is the source for all our needs, He will be the one we look to. We can be real with God and ask Him to help us with our unbelief. Suppressing our doubts will do nothing good for us. We must confess our fears and give them to Jesus to replace with faith.
1 Corinthians 1:8-9 says, “He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” It is by His grace that we can walk this life of faith.
What impossibilities are you facing right now? Will you come to Jesus and ask Him to help your unbelief?
Believe that Jesus is all you need. Jeremiah 33:3, “Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.” God wants to share His plans for you. We must simply ask and wait on Him. He is a father that will not decline His child’s invitation to be with Him. When we seek Him with all our heart, we will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13).
When was the last time you asked God to help you?
We may not fully be convinced in God’s ways, but we must ultimately put our trust in Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” God has plans to bring you to success. Fears that say otherwise are lies from the enemy.
In your unbelief, remember that His ways are higher than your ways and His thoughts higher than your thoughts. Even though it may seem there’s no end to the season you’re in, He will lead you out as you follow Him through the storms of life. So remember, ask Jesus to help your unbelief.
Prayer: Lord, help my unbelief. Give me faith and strength to move forward with you.
