Recognizing What Our Choices Mean

by | Sep 18, 2020

We are all bound to have wounded hearts, and sometimes, we can be ๐’ƒ๐’๐’Š๐’๐’…๐’†๐’… from seeing the ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ก๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ฌ. This is when we need to come to Jesus and ask Him to show us anything in our hearts that ๐’Š๐’”๐’โ€™๐’• ๐’๐’‡ ๐‘ฏ๐’Š๐’Ž. An easy way to know the condition of our hearts is to look at our choices. Recognizing what our choices mean will help us walk with a pure heart.

I was struggling with unforgiveness but was in denial.

I knew unforgiveness was bad, so I strayed away from identifying myself with having that in my heart. However, my choices only further showed me that my heart was filled with unforgiveness.

Saying many sarcastic jokes to my husband clearly showed me I was still harboring pain from past mistakes that he had done.

I went before God and told Him, “I just don’t know how to get rid of this unforgiveness. I want to but I don’t know how.” At that moment, God said, “Just give it to me.

His simple words made a tremendous change in my heart.

I realized that I was choosing to hold on to this unforgiveness, but here, Jesus was inviting me to hand Him my unforgiveness and trust that He will take care of me. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

The word “cast” means to throw upon or give. When we give our anxieties and burdens to Jesus, we no longer have to carry them on our own.ย

The solution to any broken heart is to come to Jesus and give Him our broken heart so He can create a new and pure heart inside of us.

Psalm 51:10 says, “Create in me a pure heart, O God….” This Psalm was written by David, who had just committed adultery with Bathsheba. Not only did he sleep with Bathsheba, but he also purposefully put her husband in the front lines of battle knowing he would die. Despite David’s sin, he knew he could still come to the Lord and repent and ask God to create in him a pure heart.

We can still come to Jesus no matter how filthy our hearts may be. Ephesians 2:4-5 says, “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressionsโ€”it is by grace you have been saved.

Jesus died on the cross and shed his blood for our very sins. We receive His righteousness and salvation through faith in accepting Jesus as our Savior (Eph. 2:8).

May the depravity of our hearts only lead us to Jesus. He didn’t come to condemn the world, but to save the world (John 3:17). As we surrender ourselves daily at the feet of Jesus, He will renew us to walk into the new man we are in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17).

Believe that Jesus has the power to transform your heart into a pure one. It is not through your own strength but by His power and the Holy Spirit who lives in you when you accept Jesus.ย Whether you are dealing with anxiety, unforgiveness, lust, or anger, nothing is too great for Allow Jesus to ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค ๐ข๐ง ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ and youโ€™ll see yourself in a place where you could never have imagined to be.

Will you come to Jesus and ask Him to create in you a pure heart? Will you surrender yourself daily to Jesus, allowing His truth to be your way of life?ย

Psalm 139:23-24 is a powerful prayer to pray: โ€ Give your broken heart to Jesus and ask Him to create in you a ๐’‘๐’–๐’“๐’† ๐’‰๐’†๐’‚๐’“๐’•. So remember, recognize what your choices mean.
