It can be hard to believe that God is with us in our sufferings, but there is purpose in our sufferings. God is perfecting our faith and comforting us so that we can comfort others. God is with you in your sufferings.
We can easily acknowledge that God is with us when things are good, but what about when things are not so good? You may be asking, “If God is with me, then why am I suffering?”
That’s where I found myself not too long ago.
I have been fighting against urinary tract infection since last year. It would always arise right before I would be ministering or speaking. However, after prayer, the symptoms would miraculously leave.
This time, however, prayer did not immediately solve my symptoms.
I found myself with the same symptoms except for this time it got worse within 3 weeks. The antibiotics that I took didn’t help and only caused my eyes to be red. I started questioning my own faith, “did I not have enough faith to believe in my healing? Is God not with me?
However, Jesus met me in the midst of my desperation. He reminded me that He is with me and that He longs to heal me. Psalm 23:4 says, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Though my healing wasn’t immediate, I knew that victory would be my end story.
No matter the troubles that you are going through, know that God is with you. He’s not only with you during good times, but He’s also with you in your darkest moments. Though we still live in a world where the enemy reigns, we are more than conquerors through Christ (Romans 8:37).
If you are going through trials and suffering, take heart. Victory will be yours. Jesus tells us in John 16:33, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
In the midst of our sufferings, we are called to be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer (Romans 12:12). We can still have joy in our sufferings because our hope is in Christ who never fails us. Be patient knowing that He will come through at the right time and will give us the strength to persevere. We must continue to be faithful in prayer and speak life to our situations.
God allows us to go through trials and testings to only grow our faith. We also have the opportunity to receive His comfort and share that comfort to those who are suffering the very things we went through. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
Will you press into Jesus evermore and trust your situation in His hands?
Jesus is more than capable to do the impossible. Let us not lose faith in our sufferings. We serve a faithful God who is always for our good. You will receive a deeper revelation than you ever had compared to any other season of your life. There is purpose in your sufferings. God will use whatever was meant for your harm for your good. So remember, God is with you in your sufferings.
