It Starts With Believing

by | Oct 1, 2020

There’s power in believing who God says we are. Faith isn’t mere words spoken—it’s our hearts 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞. We must first believe in order to receive God’s promises and become who He says we are. It starts with believing.

It’s been a journey for me to learn to see myself as God sees me—beautiful.

As I sat in stillness before the Lord, He posed a question to me: “What if believing that you are beautiful is what made you beautiful?”

I thought to myself, “If believing that I was beautiful would make me beautiful, then yes, I’d believe that I am beautiful.” God then reminded me that believing that I am beautiful is what makes me beautiful.

God and others can tell me a million times a day that I’m beautiful, but if I don’t believe it, then it doesn’t matter what the truth is. I can be beautiful but without me believing it, I’ll never see it myself.

Truth is irrelevant unless we believe it.

This principle applies to our salvation in Jesus. Jesus is the way, truth, and life, but unless we believe it, we won’t experience His salvation.

Romans 10:9 says, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

It’s our faith that saves us—we must believe that Jesus is the way, truth, and life.

Ephesians 2:8 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith.” It’s by the grace of God that we can be saved through the precious blood of Jesus, and it’s through our faith that we can receive God’s salvation for us.

It’s by faith that we can receive all that God has for us now and in eternity.

Hebrews 11:7-8 says, “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith, he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith. By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

Both Noah and Abraham received God’s promises in their lives through their step of faith. They believed in God’s word before seeing it come to pass. God told Noah to build an ark because He was going to destroy the world through a flood. Noah built the ark out of faith which saved him and his family. Abraham had to leave his homeland, his place of comfort in order to walk into his 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 from God.

Noah’s act of faith was building the ark. Abraham’s act of faith was leaving his hometown.

What is your act of faith that God is calling you to do?

Whether God is calling you to 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕, 𝒈𝒐, 𝒐𝒓 𝒍𝒆𝒕 𝒈𝒐, we must trust that God has the best in store for us. Receiving God’s promises starts by believing. The enemy always tries to attack us with fear because he knows the power we receive when we obey God in faith.

When in doubt, 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞. Remembering 𝑮𝒐𝒅’𝒔 𝒇𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 will help us trust God in our 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕 circumstances.

Faithfulness is 𝐆𝐨𝐝’𝐬 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞. He never fails us and is 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅. When fear or doubt tries to tell us otherwise, we must redirect our thoughts to the truth that God is faithful—𝑯𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒅. If we want the best that God has in store for us, we must be willing to let go of things that God has clearly asked us to let go of. So remember, it starts with believing.
