Jesus wants more than our deeds, He wants our hearts. Jesus says to the churches throughout Revelations 1-3, “I know your deeds, but…”
He says to the church of Thyatira, “I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance…Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.” (Revelation 2:19-20)
To the church of Laodecia, He says, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” (Revelation 3:15-16)
Our mere activities are not enough to Jesus – He wants us to love Him with all of our heart, soul, and mind. There is no way we can love Jesus if there are sin and disobedience between us and God.
By God’s grace, we can walk a blameless life. 1 Corinthians 1:8 says, “He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”
The enemy wants to diminish our influence by keeping us in disobedience to what God is asking us to do. We can only live life to the fullest when we give Jesus our heart, soul, and mind. God wants to pour His blessings to us but He wants to make sure He can trust us with them. Are there things you are withholding from God?
