Who doesn’t fear the future? We all do because not a single person on this earth can tell us what will happen next. Scary, isn’t it? But, there is a way we can live life full of joy without letting our fears control us. There is a way that we can laugh without fear of the future.
As I was going through my Bible time, I stumbled upon this verse:
“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” (Proverbs 31:25)
Oh wouldn’t we all love to face the future with laughter?
I sure wished I could.
It was such a beautiful verse, yet not a beautiful verse living in me. There I found myself scared, depressed, and helpless just thinking about my future. Not for a second could I think about my future and laugh.
I was at a point where God had asked me to let go of something so dear to me, and I couldn’t help but fear the future. It didn’t make sense, and I felt like I just made the most ridiculous move in my life.
But it was at this moment when God reminded me of this truth that I needed to sow in my heart:
God loves me, and he is a good father.
I finally realized the secret to that Proverbs 31:25 verse -it’s a simple concept, yet one that makes all the difference. Knowing how much our God loves us is the foundation we need to be able to hold through the struggles in life.
Yes I had doubts of where God was taking me, but I went back to the foundational truth that he loves me, and will always lead me to his best.
God wants you to know that you are his beloved child, and he is your father. He loves you, and wants the best for you. Whatever and wherever he is taking you, trust him because he loves you. This is a fact that nothing and no one in this world can take away.
Romans 8:38 says, “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels or demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow – not even the power of hell can separate us from God’s love.”
God’s love for you will never fail nor fade. His love will never fail to please you, fill you, and strengthen you. Your father in heaven loves you so much that he wants you to go through the journey of facing the unknown with joy, knowing that he will be with you through each step of the way.
We all laugh when we are happy, but the kind of laughter that God wants to give to you is not one that comes from happiness, which is an instant state of contentment based on a circumstance. Instead, God wants to give you laughter that comes from joy, a contentment that is not based on our circumstance, but in the Lord alone.
True joy can only come from God. You can have joy no matter what you face in life because it is fueled through hope in God. You can laugh without fear of the future because you hold the firm truth that God will take care of you. Nothing in this world can give you assurance that you will be ok, but God can if you put your trust in him and obey him.
God loves you, and that is all you need to know to make it through. So remember, laugh without fear of the future.
