We can only pick up ๐ฎ๐๐ โ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ when we choose to lay down our agenda. God is always at work and is looking for us to ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ง๐๐ซ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐๐ข๐ฆ. Let us submit our agenda for His agenda.
In the midst of my alone time with Jesus, He told me to “slow down.”
He wasn’t talking about slowing the pace of my work, but slowing down from pursuing my own agenda so I can focus on His agenda. I’m a planner and I tend to stick with what I’ve planned out for the week. However, God was reminding me that there will be times when He may have different plans than what I have written down on my planner.
It’s during these moments that I must lay aside what I have planned and follow where His peace is guiding me in. We can easily fight against where God is guiding us to because it wasn’t what we planned or how we imagined things to be. When we find ourselves conflicting with God’s agenda, remember that God knows best.
We are called to do His will and not our own.
There were many demands and expectations upon Jesus, but His focus was always to ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐. His agenda wasnโt built around pleasing Himself or others, ๐๐ฎ๐ญ ๐๐จ๐.
We have the choice every day to set our own agendas, but have we stopped to consider what ๐ฎ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐? Jesus ๐จ๐ง๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐ข๐ what the Father did. He was about Godโs agenda and not His own. His food was to do the will of the Father (John 4:34). Jesus says in John 5:19, “‘…the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.’“
Jesus only did what the Father did, and so should we.
In John 4 we see Jesus heading to Samaria. The disciples didn’t understand why Jesus had to go through Samaria, but Jesus knew whyโHe has a God-divine appointment there to meet the Samaritan woman by the well. John 4:4 says, โNow he had to go through Samaria.โ To the disciples, Samaria was a detour, but to Jesus, it was a God-divine appointment on His Father’s agenda.
Because Jesus went to Samaria, He was able to reveal Himself as the Messiah to the Samaritan woman. She believed in Jesus which led to the rest of the village believing in Jesus.
When we choose to lay our agenda for His agenda, we get to build His kingdom here on Earth.
There were many times when the disciples saw Jesus making โdetoursโ or still ministering when they thought He should be resting. However, Jesus saw every detour and ministering opportunity as a ๐๐จ๐-๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ that was necessary on His agenda.
Let us be like Jesus and leave room for ๐ฏ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ in our lives. God is ๐๐ฅ๐ฐ๐๐ฒ๐ฌ ๐จ๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฏ๐ even when we donโt see it (John 5:17). He has an agenda during both busy and mundane days. We have the choice to tune in to the Lord and ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐ฏ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐. Whether weโre going to the grocery market, planning for big projects, or going to meet a friend, ๐๐จ๐ ๐ก๐๐ฌ ๐๐ง ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ ๐ข๐ง ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐. We get to pick up His agenda as we learn to lay down our own agenda.
Not only do we partner with God with our actions, but our words matter too. Jesus has given us the Holy Spirit who lives in us. He is constantly guiding us to do and say the right things. We have the option to follow our flesh or deny our flesh and walk by the Spirit. Every moment we choose to walk by the Spirit is us choosing to partner with God.
What do you need to add or take away from your agenda to pursue His agenda?ย
God has created you to glorify Him. There is a joy like no other when we are pursuing His will. So remember, submit your agenda for His agenda.
