God doesn’t want us to see Jesus as a burden. He wants us to see the beauty of Jesus.
As I was praying for this Christmas, God was telling me that He longs for us to see the beauty of His Son. God gave us Jesus so that we could be saved and be with Him for eternity through His purifying blood.
It can be easy to get caught up with others things during this Christmas season, however, we should celebrate Christmas remembering God’s greatest sign of love towards us in giving us His Son, Jesus. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). God doesn’t just love us, but He so loves us, that He was willing to give us His best. He came so that we would have life and life with Him.
Through Jesus, we now have access to God anytime and anywhere. God longs that we see the beauty of His Son because it’s in seeing Jesus rightly that we see God’s love for us.
It was prophesied that Jesus would be called Immanuel, which means God with us. How beautiful it is that we have a God who loves us and longs to dwell with us. He loves us so much that He promises to always be with us to the very end of age (Matthew 28:20). Jesus was given to us as a gift so that we could be reconciled to God and have a relationship with Him now and for eternity.
Our greatest joy should be found in our Salvation in Jesus. Though there are amazing things here on earth, nothing compares to us being saved through Jesus. In Jesus, we see God’s great love towards us. Let us rejoice every day in the God of our salvation (Habakkuk 3:18). When we remember how much God loves us, we can’t help but love Him back.
Why is Jesus Beautiful? Because He is our
Wonderful Counselor that comforts us
Mighty God that saves us
Everlasting Father that loves us
Prince of Peace that covers us
All these titles of Jesus are capitalized to show us that He is our ultimate Savior. Isaiah 9:6 says, “And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Have you called on Jesus to be Lord and Savior of your life?
When you’re feeling lonely, sad, upset, or afraid, you can go to Jesus and know that He hears you and is available to speak the very words that will comfort your heart. He is our ultimate Counselor and Comforter in every season of our lives. Jesus is Immanuel, God with us. We are never alone because God is always with us. He is our friend for every season. We just need to look to Jesus and call on Him in faith and He always shows up.
Ask Jesus to help us see the beauty of the love of the Father through Himself. God longs for you to see the beauty of His Son, and it starts with acknowledging that God is real and with you. So remember, behold the beauty of Jesus.
Prayer: Jesus, thank you for coming to be my Savior. Help me to behold your beauty always.
