We can easily believe that because God is with us, we will have an easy pass toward reaching our promise land. Not everything will be given to us without our perseverance. With God we are promised our victory, but there are still battles to fight. There is a journey to our promise land.
Joshua was able to obtain his promise lands but he still had battles to fight. God constantly told Joshua to not be afraid but to be bold and be courageous. Joshua knew the task of conquering the territories were greater than himself which is why God constantly reminded him that He would be with him always (Joshua 1:9).
Our promise lands may be greater than ourselves to conquer, but with God all things are possible (Matt. 19:26).
Because we have access to God, we have access to His power and strategy to overcome the battles of life. In Joshua 8 we see God giving Joshua the strategy to defeat the people of Ai. He told Joshua to set an ambush behind the city (Joshua 8:2).
Not only does Joshua seek God’s strategy before the battle, but even during the battle. In Joshua 8:18-19, God says to Joshua, “Hold out toward Ai the javelin that is in your hand, for into your hand I will deliver the city.” So Joshua held out toward the city the javelin that was in his hand. As soon as he did this, the men in the ambush rose quickly from their position and rushed forward. They entered the city and captured it and quickly set it on fire.”
Just as God gave Joshua the strategies to defeat the people of Ai, He too will give us strategies to fight our battles.
Open your ears to hear what He is saying, watch where he may be leading, and wait in His presence for direction. As we abide in Him, we will bear fruit in all of our works. We can unlock strategies from God to build successful businesses and ministries. Jesus says in John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
If you are faced with a roadblock or don’t know what your next step is, ask God. This is the season to be asking God for strategy. We may get discouraged when things don’t go our way or if the assignment seems too great, but don’t give up.
Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
You will see the fruit of your works in due time – that is God’s promise. Look back and remember God’s call over your life if you are feeling discouraged. God will finish what He started in you (Philippians 1:6).
