God promises us territory, a place where we will have influence over and reap blessings from. That territory could be a specific people group, age group, those going through certain injustices, etc. It will take walking with Jesus to conquer our promise land. What’s your territory?
We are all called to certain territories. We see God promising His people territory throughout the Old Testament. He told Abraham to leave his hometown to the land that He would show him (Genesis 12:1). God told Joshua, “I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west” (Joshua 1:3-4).
Just as God longed to give His people influence over territories, He also longs to give us influence for His glory. Jesus says in Matthew 5:14,16, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden…in the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
God longs for you to be the light of the world – that may be your workplace, a certain people group overseas, your campus, etc.
One thing that the enemy is after is our influence. He will try to taint us with sin so that the light of Jesus would diminish in us.
It takes walking with Jesus to conquer our promise land.
God made it clear to Joshua that he must abide in His ways in order to be successful wherever he would go. God says in Joshua 1:7 “…Be careful to observe all the law My servant Moses commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may prosper wherever you go.”
What territory has God put a burden in your heart for? Is there anything hindering you from conquering the territory that God is calling you to?
There is nothing more fulfilling than living the life that God created you to be. The enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy, but Jesus has come to give you life to the fullest (John 10:10). Don’t give in to the enemy’s temptations. This is the year to walk with Jesus into your God-given purpose.
