Without vision, we cannot get to where we need to be. This is why vision is important in fulfilling God’s greatest commandment to love Him. Let’s make our vision this year to love Jesus well.
The Lord has been reminding me that I need to make my vision focused on how I can love Jesus better this year. Every single day, I want to love Jesus the best that I can and give my utmost to Him.
We can make many goals for 2022, but let’s make it our number 1 goal to spend time with Jesus. The Word of God is Jesus Himself, and it contains everything we need to thrive in this life and in eternity. If we aren’t in the Word, we will miss out on experiencing life to the fullest because we will miss Jesus Himself. We can’t experience the best of life without Jesus. The enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy, but Jesus came to give us life to the fullest (John 10:10).
Make this year the year that you abide in Jesus and His Words abide in you.
What we set our eyes on is where we will end up going. This is why walking with vision is so important. If we want to walk down the path that pleases God, we must walk with His Word before our eyes.
The Bible contains words of life for us here on earth and in eternity. Proverbs 4:20-22 says, “…pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.”
Let us be mindful of what we let our eyes see on a daily basis. Walk with fear of the Lord and look to Jesus and His Word.
What are you setting before your eyes? Will you prioritize spending time with Jesus every day?
If we want to walk according to God’s ways, we must put His ways at the forefront of our minds. Proverbs 3 reminds us to not let wisdom and understandig out of our sight. What are wisdom and understanding? According to Proverbs 9:10, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and understanding is knowledge of the Holy One. This means that we need to keep fear of the Lord and the knowledge of God before our eyes.
As we keep fear of God and the knowledge of Him before us, we are promised to have a blessed life. We stray away from God’s ways when we choose to give our attention to the things of this world instead of God’s Word. Let us look to Jesus because only He is the way and the truth and the life (John 14:6).
It’s healthy to have a fear of the Lord because fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. We can’t have access to wisdom if we don’t first acknowledge that God sees everything and is sovereign. Fear of the Lord doesn’t mean we fear Him and therefore don’t want to be near Him. Fear of the Lord is us acknowledging that God is almighty and will judge those who do right and wrong. Fearing God is seeing Him rightly. If we want to make loving God the vision of our lives, we must have a fear of God. He is to be reverenced in everything we do.
Does your life show that you fear God?
Anything we do without fear of God will mean nothing at the end when we meet Jesus face to face. We can have wealth, fame, and success, but not at the cost of forsaking loving Jesus. At the end of the day, Jesus is looking for lovers and the only way to love Him is to obey His commands (John 14:15). If we want to live a life obeying His commands, we have to keep His Word in front of us and have fear of God in our hearts.
Solomon was the richest person in the world. He had everything; however, near the end of his life, he ends with, “…here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14).
Let us walk with eternity in mind and with the vision to love Jesus. We have one life to love Jesus and experience the fullness of life that He has for us here on earth and in eternity. So remember why vision is important.
Prayer: Jesus, thank you for the life you have blessed me with. Help me to set my vision on loving You more.
