We all have the opportunity to receive God’s gift of love and mercy, but to receive it we must receive Jesus and give up our lives to Him.
My past was far from perfect. I was the rebellious 16 year old who got into a toxic relationship with a man 10 years older out of desperation for love and the lie that no one would ever love me. I eventually ran away from home at the age of 18 and did wrong things that brought me shame and depression.
One of the things I did was get married secretly to help him get his green card. I wasn’t ready for marriage nor understood the meaning of marriage, yet I feared losing him because he was everything I had.
Fast forward to being 20, I ended up leaving that marriage and lived another year in secrecy. It wasn’t until Jan of 2015 that I realized I was in a deep pit that I couldn’t get myself out of.
The only hope I had was Jesus. So that month I made Jesus Lord over my life and confessed my past to those who needed to know. I thought I would have to live with the shame of my past forever, but I found that Jesus died on the cross to redeem my life from destruction, and to crown me with loving kindness and tender mercies (Psalm 103:4).
I got to know Jesus by reading the Bible and allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal His love to me.
Jesus has changed my life ever since for the better. God’s love and mercy are available to ANYONE no matter what they have done as long as they choose to leave their life of sin and follow Him.
There is truly nothing better than living in God’s perfect, good, and pleasing will. You will not regret following Jesus because He is the path of life (Psalm 16:11).
This world offers many solutions for love, counsel, and peace, but only ONE can truly give us all and that is Jesus. He is our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).
God has given us the gift of eternal life with Him and life to the fullest in Christ Jesus, but have we received this gift?
We must receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior to receive God’s love and mercy. We have to choose to turn away from our old life and what this world offers and follow Jesus. Only IN HIM will we find all that we need.
We can have the assurance that God loves us because He GAVE us His Son Jesus to save us from our sins so that we may have life to the fullest here on earth and for eternity.
Isaiah 9:6 says, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Jesus was given to US so that we may find love, peace, joy, counsel, direction, and eternal life with Him. In Jesus, we have been given a gift of love and mercy that we don’t deserve.
We are promised to always experience His goodness and mercy all the days of our lives in Jesus (Psalm 23:6).
Take time to give thanks to God for His enduring mercy which He has shown by giving us Jesus. Mercy is Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross, He finished all that had to be done to save us forever as we choose to believe and live in Him.
We were all doomed for hell, yet God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).
Let’s remember what our destiny would have been without Jesus, and what it is now with Jesus. As we look to Jesus, give thanks for God’s enduring mercy. “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love and mercy endures forever” (Psalm 136:1).
Will you receive the gift of love and mercy in Jesus?
Let’s be intentional this year to not forget all the Lord’s benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion…” (Psalm 103:1-4).
Our circumstances can easily pull us away from having a heart of thanksgiving, but let’s choose to remember God’s faithfulness in Jesus.
Hold your testimony close to your heart every day and remember the beauty of salvation that has been given to us through Jesus. “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us” (Ephesians 1:7-8).
We’ve been forgiven and made right with God through the blood of Jesus even though we didn’t deserve it. Yet because of God’s love and mercy, we now get to live life with the assurance that we will always see His goodness in this life and for eternity.
Death isn’t our end, but eternity with Jesus is.
When we feel that we are in lack, let’s remember that we have the greatest gift of all which is Jesus. Nothing is truly more valuable than having the almighty God living in us and a secure eternity with Him forever. We have all we need in Jesus. God’s love and mercy will sustain us through it all.
So remember, receive His gift of love and mercy today.
Prayer: Jesus, your love and mercy are truly the greatest gifts of all. We do not deserve them, yet You continue to show us unconditional love. Help me to remember your great love and mercy for me always.
