What happens when life doesn’t go the way you pictured it? Maybe you are in a place where you never imagined yourself being at. Even if you seem far from the dreams that God has put in your heart, trust His process. God is faithful even in the places we never would imagine ourselves to be at. God’s ways are always for our good and for the purpose of helping others.
We see God’s faithfulness throughout the life of Joseph in scripture. God had given Joseph dreams of him being placed as a leader with authority, yet he found himself so far off from the dream God gave him.
Joseph got sold as a slave and went in prison, yet God was still faithful. Genesis 39:21 says, “the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.” Because God granted favor for Joseph in the eyes of the prison warden, Joseph was put in charge of the prison.
God was faithful to Joseph even in the place he least expected himself to ever be at. God granted Him favor and responsibility and was preparing Joseph for His calling.
Just as God was faithful to Joseph, He is also faithful to us even in the places we may never have pictured ourselves to be at. We don’t have to wait until we’ve reached our promise land to experience God’s faithfulness – He is faithful along the journey of our purpose.
As I read into Joseph’s life, God reminded me of how He has been faithful to me. I haven’t arrived at my destination, but even in the journey of walking into my God-given purpose I have seen God open doors for leadership positions and entrust me with people to disciple. He had recently opened the door for me to be a part of the PF Women’s Ministry team and lead their young adult’s section. I still have other goals and desires in my heart, but I am embracing what He is giving me today.
We see God giving Joseph responsibility throughout his journey into his purpose. No matter where God placed Him, Joseph was entrusted with much. He was even granted responsibility of the household of Potiphar. Genesis 39:6 says, “So Potiphar left everything he had in Joseph’s care; with Joseph in charge…“
Joseph was faithful in everything that he did and God entrusted to him more. Joseph was that faithful servant that Jesus spoke about in Luke 12:44. Jesus says, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.”
Joseph never imagined himself going through all that he went through, but he later realized that God was setting himself up to His purpose and to help others. Joseph later says to his brothers, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives” (Genesis 50:20).
God never forgot His promises to Joseph. He too has not forgotten the promises He has spoken over your life. Embrace the season that you are in today and be His faithful servant in everything that you do. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.“
How can you be a good steward of the things God has entrusted you in this season? God’s ways are never our ways, but we can trust that His ways are always good.
