You Don’t Have To Be Strong Enough

by | Aug 4, 2020

Our weaknesses can easily cause us to lose hope that we will ever change or persevere to victory. However, through Christ, our weaknesses become strengthened. His grace is sufficient enough to make us an overcomer. You don’t have to be strong enough.

There have been many times in my life when I doubted my own capability to go through a season because of a weakness I had. I questioned my weaknesses and almost gave up many times, fearing that my weaknesses would take over. However, God never failed to show me that His strength is enough.

When God first asked me to write and speak, I didn’t think I could. Writing and speaking were my very weaknesses. I obeyed and relied on God, and now, thousands of people worldwide are impacted by my writing and podcasts.

When God asked me to let go of a relationship I had in the past, I didn’t think I could because I was always afraid of being single. I didn’t think I could go through a season being single, but I did. God strengthened me each day as I surrendered my weak heart to Him. Now I am married to an amazing man of God because of my act of obedience.

I have countless more examples of how God took my very weaknesses and strengthened them.

Maybe you are in a place where your situation seems so unbearable, or you are going through a heartbreak that seems impossible to heal from, or you are facing temptation that seems to outweigh you. Whatever your weaknesses may be, know that through Christ, your weaknesses become your strength.

2 Cor. 12:9 says, “‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

Paul recognized that his weaknesses were not a bad thing, but rather, an opportunity for Christ’s power to rest on him.

Paul says further in 2 Cor. 12:10, “That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

The key to finding strength from the Lord is through denying ourselves. As we choose to deny our fears and desires, we leave room for God to take over. As we surrender to God, He strengthens us to do what we never thought we could do.

The story of Joshua and the Israelites in the Bible were never about how strong the Israelites were, but rather, how strong God was. They were able to defeat many kings and take on armies that were greater than them because God was on their side. Joshua tells the Israelites in Joshua 23:3, “‘You yourselves have seen everything the Lord your God has done to all these nations for your sake; it was the Lord your God who fought for you.‘”

The God who fought for the Israelites now lives in you. Jesus left and gave us the Holy Spirit to empower us to live a bold and pure life for His glory. God longs for you to live in the freedom He created you to have.

Will you look to God for strength and not on your own capability? Will you trust that He is able to lead you into your victory?

Psalm 18:17 says, “He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me.” No matter what obstacles you may be facing, God is greater. He will rescue you and take you to a place of victory.

God is good at 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 our weaknesses. When we feel 𝐚𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐝 to move forward, 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 of the task assigned to us, 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐤 to persevere, or 𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐭𝐟𝐮𝐥 if we will fall back into sin, God becomes our strength to 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐦. So remember, you don’t have to be strong enough. Listen more on this topic in our latest Podcast “You Don’t Have To Be Strong Enough”
